Which editing tool should I use?
01 Look at the photo, then pick
Every tool does one job. Find the line below that describes your photo.
- The room is empty. → Stage. It puts furniture in.
- The room is full of the owner’s things. → Declutter. It clears the mess away.
- The room is furnished and fine, just tired. → Refresh. It keeps the furniture and re-dresses around it.
- The photo is crooked, or the wrong shape for the portal. → Crop. Free, and instant.
- You want the twilight shot but you were there at noon. → Dusk.
- The grass is brown or patchy. → Lawn.
- There is a fireplace and it is not lit. → Fire.
- The pool is green or covered. → Pool.
- None of the above. → Ask. Type what you want changed, in your own words.
02 The three that get confused
Stage, Declutter and Refresh all change the furniture in a room, and it is worth being clear which is which:
- Stage — the room is empty, and you want furniture in it.
- Declutter — the room has furniture you want to keep, and mess you do not. It clears the mess and adds nothing.
- Refresh — the room has furniture you want to keep, and it looks plain. It clears the mess and adds fresh linen and decor around the furniture that is already there.
Declutter also has a stronger setting that takes the furniture out too, which is useful when a room is furnished badly and you would rather stage it from scratch.
03 What every tool costs
One credit per run, whichever tool it is. Crop is the exception — it happens on your phone, so it is free.
If a tool does not apply to your photo, it says so and does not charge you. Running the fire tool on a room with no fireplace costs you nothing.
04 You can run more than one
Tools stack. Declutter a room, then stage it, then run dusk on the exterior shot. Each run is a new version of the photo, and you choose whether to keep it.
Each run costs its own credit. See What is a credit?
05 On the phone and on the website
Declutter, stage, dusk and lawn work in both the app and on the website. Fire, pool, ask, refresh and crop are in the app.
